But our time is very limited, and we want to focus our efforts on people who are as honest and open with us as we try to be with them. (Believe it or not, that is a very small minority of people who contact us through these pages.)

Maintaining a list like I expect this site to maintain is always a massive undertaking (based on experience with similar lists in other areas of interest). So your application to be included in our list is free. But I need some safeguards before I will process it. And most of those safeguards involve getting complete, verifiable information from each festival that applies.

In addition, we have no intention of promoting anything that is "fly-by-night" or even well-meant but half-baked. For that reason, any festival that occurs intermittently, or is not sponsored by an organization with a good reputation for serving their community may not make the "permanent" list the first time you apply. (I may take the liberty of posting it on the Folkarama Facebook page. However, that is a judgment call, and I'm the judge.)

In addition, any form that is missing required fields or which contains obviously fake information will be deleted automatically, with no warning to the sender. And the way the form is set up, it is possible to send an incomplete form (this catches some robospammers). So be certain to check your form over before you submit it.

Sorry if this sounds a little demanding, but we have had as many as a thousand fake submissions a week at times, and we want to spend our time interacting with real people.
