FolkAramaTM Terms and Conditions
Note: This information is provided because some states and countries insist on us defining exactly what reader information we capture and keep and what we do with it.
The first thing you need to know is that none of our article pages or newsletters use cookies or collect user information of any kind.
That said, if you contact us by e-mail, sign up for our newsletter, or sign up for our discussion forums, we will collect certain information necessary to process your request. Again, this doesn't happen unless you initiate the contact.
- If You Voluntarily Contact Us, we ask for your full name and address, because we wasted many hours researching and providing detailed answers to what seemed like legitimate questions from interested readers, only to discover that the whole contact was somebody's idea of a "joke," or that the person took the information we gave him and posted it elsewhere as if he was the source.
No one but the site Administrator will ever see your information; we never share it with anybody period.
- If You Voluntarily Sign Up for Our Newsletter, we ask for your full name and address, because we have been "burned" by too many scammers, spammers, and trolls, including folks who only signed up so they could plagiarize our materials more easily. If you think this puts an unnecessary burden on would-be subscribers, you have to admit that you would be providing the same information to any publication that came in the mail.
No one but the site Administrator will ever see your information; we never share it with anybody period.
- If You Voluntarily Sign Up for Discussion Forums (like Family Garden Trains reader discussion forum):
- When you sign up, we require your real name and address before you join - we do this to protect our members from scams, spams, and trolls. Since you know who I am, I think I have a right to know who you are.
- Once you are enrolled, the only thing other members see is the user name/nickname you choose when you sign up.
No one besides the forum Administrator will ever see your details, or even your real name or e-mail address. We never share it with anybody period.
In any of these cases, if you don't think we have a right to know who we're spending time communicating with or who our subscribers are, that's fine; we won't be offended if you don't sign up.
Your continued use of our pages indicates that you agree with our policies.
Sister Sites
Other sites we started to keep this site from getting too big to be useful include:
- CreekDontRise.com is a repository of articles about Folk music and the instruments on which it has been traditionally played.
The "Acoustic" page includes a long list of articles including maintenance and playing tips on all sorts of traditional acoustic instruments.
- RiverboatMusic.com is a buyers' guide for acoustic and traditional instrument from a musician's point of view, focusing on the uses, reliability, and practicality of various instruments, and not just the marketing hype about the shape of the fret markers or whatever.
For instruments like dulcimers that have mostly small manufacturers or cheap imports, we try to tell you what to look for, irrespective of brand.
- Momma Don't 'Low includes a free e-mail newsletter that discusses all of those topics above and more. We plan to include other features as time permits.
Note - If you wish to sign up for our newsletter and ask a question at the same time, please click on the Momma Don't 'Low newsletter button to learn more and to get a link to our signup form.
- PaulRaceMusic.com is the "landing page" for Paul's own musical endeavors, plus many memoirs and blogs about music and the music business.
- ClassicTrainSongs.com describes railroad songs that every train lover should know. Or at least know about.
- SchoolOfTheRock.com has articles about Christian music, Christian music careers and performance, Christian living in general, and vintage saxophones, another of Paul's interests. This site has separate newsletters, etc., by the way - there isn't a lot of overlap with the Momma Don't 'Low(tm) newsletters.
For information about other music collections and projects, check the links at the bottom of this page.
Whatever else you get out of our pages, I hope you come away with some great ideas for "sharing the joy."
And please stay in touch!
